Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior also known as Neymar, is a Brazilian football sensation. The 31 years old plays for Paris Saint-German and Brazil national team. He is termed as one of the greatest football players in the world. Neymar scored 77 goals for Brazil in 124 appearances and he is also the top scorer for Brazil national team alongside Pele. The Brazilian star have won La Liga, UEFA Champions League, Copa del Rey, Ligue 1, Copa America and lead Brazil national team to its maiden Olympic gold medal. In terms of award, the Paris Saint-German forward have won Ligue 1 Player of the Year, Golden Ball, FIFA Puskás Award and many more. The Brazilian is also a great playmaker as he scored 100 of goals for three different football clubs. Therefore, he is undoubtedly one of the best footballers in the world.

Neymar Jr. is expected to shine more in his football career. Football experts and analysts predicts that he will be remembered as the greatest footballer of all time like- Diego Maradona, Pele, Puskás, Zidane, and Kaka. Although, Neymar has a lot to prove. The former Barcelona star finished third for the prestigious FIFA Ballon d’Or twice and yet to achieve it, he played FIFA World Cup three times and failed to win it for Brazil. According to me, Neymar works hard, but his main enemy is his luck. He is one of the unluckiest football players in my opinion, often he gets injured and is out of the field for couple of weeks and months, he faces criticism for his appearances and style which affects his career as well as mental and physical health.

Out of his three FIFA World Cup appearances, he got injured in two of them and faced a huge amount of hate. In FIFA World Cup 2014, which was played in Brazil, Neymar almost got paralyzed against Columbia and he was out of field for couple of months. It was heartbreaking for Brazil and their fans, as Neymar was an important figure in the Brazil squad. Later, Brazil got knocked out from the FIFA World Cup and the World Cup winning dream was shattered. In 2018, Russia hosted FIFA World Cup, Neymar and his team was ready for it. But unfortunately, Neymar was criticized and humiliated for his funky hairstyle and his method for claiming fouls which were done against him. As a result, the mental state of the player was not normal and faced numerous problems on and off the field. Brazil national team failed to secure a place in the semifinals, although they were one of the favorites to win the World Cup. Last year, Neymar played his third World Cup and unluckily he got injured in the second game of the group stage. Later, he returned to round of sixteen to help his team. Neymar was on form and the Brazil team was also performing great throughout the World Cup, but then again, the curse of winning the World Cup appeared and Neymar’s Brazil got knocked out again. Their dream to become the World Champion, remains a dream. The luck was never there for Neymar and his side, which results to many heartbreaks.

In Paris Saint-German also known as psg, Neymar’s performance was skyrocketing. He joined psg in 2017, with a record-breaking deal of 222 million euro and he kept on scoring and assisting goals for his team. The Brazilian is a good dribbler that is why opponent commits foul, which causes numerous injuries. As a result, a brilliant star like Neymar cannot help his team during his need. The whole psg team is great and full of star players, but every time they fail to win the UEFA Champions League (competition of the best football clubs of Europe) or UCL, although they keep on winning their league competition. In 2019, Neymar carried the whole team to the finals of UCL for the first time ever but could not manage to win the finals. Neymar biggest enemy is his luck and injury, it is spoiling his bright future in my perspective. On February 19, 2023 Neymar was stretched off the field as he caught an injury after rolling his ankle, during a match.  Most of the Brazil and psg fan prays for Neymar’s so that he does not end up like Kaka (Brazilian footballer), as Kaka’s career got ruined because of injury. But, Neymar has still a lot to achieve and deliver for his national team and football club. Neymar deserves a lot of respect and he deserves to win everything like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Sometimes, it is the fate which determines our path. If luck was in Neymar’s favor, he could have achieved more in his professional career. In that case, we might have compared Neymar with Messi and Cristiano. As a consequence, it would have been a triangular debate for the greatest football player of all time.
