The World of Assassin's Creed
The World of Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed is an award winning video game series made by Ubisoft games and it is one of the most amazing game series in my opinion. It is a franchise close to my heart which made me fall in love with history. This game series is basically the character living in their ancestors footsteps. We use a device called the Animus to go back in time and witness some of the most important times in world history such as- Italian Renaissance, industrial revolution, ancient Egypt, French revolution, colonial America to mention some of them.
Even though it is enjoyable as a game due to its game mechanics and real life like physics I enjoyed this game more because of its historical content. Speaking of game mechanics, Assassin's creed has some of the most smoothest animations and physics. Parkour is one of them. Climbing tall buildings, running through the roofs, evading enemies are just so satisfying. Sneaking is also a big thing in this series. Staying in the shadow and bringing justice from the dark is kind of the motto of this game.
Other than that the cool outfits and the subtle details is like the icing on top of the cake. The historical weapons are also very fascinating. One of the coolest trademark of this game is the hidden blade which is a hidden sharp small blade attached to the gauntlet of the character which is used to get the job done in pure silence.
Coming back to the historical aspect of the game I have so much to speak on this matter. Not only did the developers set the game in the historical times they did a huge amount of research and worked with historians to get the most accurate depiction of that time. Starting from streets to historic monuments this game has it all. From the French Notre-Dame to English Big Ben it has it all. Not only you can see them you can explore them and see many significant events related to them. It also has accurate maps of the countries and has one of the best open-world experience ever created in games.
Not only the historical events the franchise features some of the most influential and important figures. To name some of them- Napoleon Bonaparte, Queen Victoria, Alexander Graham Bell, Charles Dickens, Cleopatra, George Washington, Leonardo Da Vinci, Benjamin Franklin, Socrates and many more.
Now giving respect to one of the most important aspects for any entertainment for me, the story. This game has some of the richest stories that even may surpass many tv series, books, movies and many other forms of media. This takes place between two group; The Assassins and The Templars. Which also brings up real life issues as well. It has action, romance, comedy, lore, trauma. It can get emotional and can also get heated. It has a very touching story which keeps you going and after playing 12 editions and many other materials I still look for more.
This is not just a video game,I would say I've learned more history from Assassin's Creed than I learned at school. This game franchise has something for everyone. Even people who don't play games will appreciate this amazing art. I highly recommend at least giving this game a try. This has shaped me to be more knowledgeable and this will remain an important part of my life.
