When in relationships often we meet new people through the people we are already connected with and grow our circles. It is fun to have diversified life experiences with people to truly learn who they are and to know interesting new information and go on new adventures together.

Why Relationships Matter

Healthy relationships are a vital component of health and wellbeing. A positive relationship can be shared between any two people who love, support, encourage and help each other practically as well as emotionally. There is compelling evidence that strong relationships contribute to a long, healthy and happy life. Conversely, people in isolation or without friends may suffer from loneliness, depression, grow addiction to cigarette smoking and may develop various health complicacies. Besides, people share relationships to:

▪ Listen to each other

▪ Communicate openly and without judgment

 ▪ Trust and respect each other

▪ Consistently make time for each other

Types of Family and Social Relationships we Share

In life,we share different relationships with different people. Few of the relationships are very common to most of the people and these have deep influence in our lives.

Parents-Children Relationship

The first and most important heavenly relationship a person come across is the parents-child relationship. Most of the time, this relationship shares the sweeter memories. However, during the adolescence/Teen age time often there is evidence of conflicting relations. This is a temporary and short time period the parents needed to take care of the situation.

Relationships with Siblings

Siblings are the true gifted companion for a human being. They are the friends, mates, partners and dearest enemies some times when a person needs to share things with them. A single child may not understand the importance and contribution the siblings can make in one’s life.

Relationship with peers

With the peers or friends probably is the warmer ones than the other. In youth, peer relationships become more central to lives. However, the lack of time is not the only reason for this shift away from family but qualitative changes are due to greater cognitive and emotional attachments. When the young ones are mentally and emotionally matured enough, the better they are able to offer genuine emotional support and comfort to each other. Thus, the family is no longer the only source of social support.Trust, respects and sacrifice are three key things for maintaining healthier friendship with peers.

Social Relation

As a social being we are to interact with many people like; our relatives, neighbors, teachers, colleagues and so on. Because every relationship have separate merits. We need to make balance and pay attention to the demand of each of those relationships.

How Healthy Relationships Matter

Sharing healthy relation benefit us in many ways like;

● Less Stress. Several studies found out that the member of a healthy living family is less responsive to psychological stress. The social and emotional support that comes from healthy relationships can be a great buffer against stress.

 ● Better Healing. The relatives or peers are there to come closer to our lives when we are in need of assistance.A little emotional support can go a long way toward helping a person to recover from a procedure or illness.

● Healthier Behaviors. Healthy relationships set the perfect tone for an overall healthy lifestyle. If spouse, friends or other loved ones encourage eating a healthy diet, exercising, not smoking then a person will be able to lead a better life. Human being tends to follow things when they discover the other near to him are doing the same.

● Greater Sense of Purpose. Naturally human being wants to feel that they are important and they are needed for something bigger. Once people are supported or surrounded by the nearest/caring people then they can sense the purpose of life.

Relationship Challenges

In our day to day life we come across many situations and many people.Due to obvious biological and social changes a teen ager come across many challenges during this period of life. Fewer of them are:

Teen and Family Relation.

During early and middle adolescent years, there is usually more frequent conflict between teens and their parents. Often, this is because the youth are trying to assert their individuality and are exercising their independence. They may be reluctant to discuss certain topics with their caregivers when they are afraid that such a discussion will get them into trouble. Another reason youth may refrain from discussing certain things with their parents is to prove to themselves, and to their parents, that they can handle life’s tough situations on their own.

Siblings Relationships in Teen

This will also change during this time. As teens' interests change and mature, they may no longer feel that they have anything in common to their younger siblings. Teens may become increasingly annoyed with their younger siblings' efforts to join them in activities because they highly value their privacy.A teen recognizes that younger siblings maintain a strong alliance with their parents. Teens are aware that younger siblings may tell parents things that they would rather be kept private. Parents should not encourage or reward a younger child for information gained by "tattling" on their older sibling because this only serves to increase distrust and unfriendliness among siblings. Parents may need to guide and assist younger siblings to respect a teen's privacy.

Teen and Social Changes.

We see that the younger children will often use the word "friend" to refer some one of their age whom they know. However, the teen will take time to recognize one as their friend or foe. Therefore, the youth may have to pay attention to:

 ▪ Learn to balance multiple relationships that compete for their time, energy and attention. Instead of just a single teacher in the school/college there could be option of choosing several teachers.

▪ New communication technologies like; email, texting, Facebook Twitter, Instagram and many more have dramatically expanded the size and complexity of social life of the youth by:

o Changing the way youth relate to one another,

o Increasing the amount of time spent staying connected with one another and

o Redefining what it means to be a "friend”.

Parents are often amazed and confused by these vastly different means of socializing and connecting with others.

Parents to Care

During this world of virtual communication, the young generation may be in difficulties to cope up with many dimensional challenges in their relationships. A list of common issues that parents are to remain watchful about is presented here:

 ▪ Difficulty in making/maintaining friendships or lacks of friends/companions

▪ Reduced confidence in groups/ Inability to gain attention from others in appropriate ways

 ▪ Inappropriate behaviors, difficulty in sharing ▪ Often in shell/difficult to gain attention

▪ Obsessional/repetitive play/conversation

 ▪ Difficulty interacting with peers of own age, tends to play with younger children/adults

 ▪ Poor empathy or reduced desire to interact with others

 ▪ Over friendliness or preferring to be in own company

Conclusion

We being the social being share different relationships with different people at various stages of life.We need to remember that Sleeping, eating and living together under one roof is enough to cause most families to experience stress and conflict at some point. When brought up in a home that promotes healthy examples of self-worth and relationships, children can flourish and grow into confident, contributing members of the community. Interactions with peers or groups at school and home can be painful for children and teens because of their difficulties in understanding, interpreting and/or responding to others’ communication. Being parents, friends, colleagues or peer in any form one may assist others to develop harmonious and healthy relationships for a healthy life.
